Hi, Marcel. What can you tell us about your first ever mix concept "Musical Madness"?

Musical Madness is a credo i used for some years now, it stands for all the madness you experience in your life as a DJ, one week your playing on a beach in Brasil with a nice cocktail in your hand, and the next week you play minus 20 in Russia, or a weekend visit to Australia is also madness to a "normal" traveller. But most of all Musical madness stands for the fact i hate being tagged and I hate it that people always wants to put eveybody in a specific corner of so called trance or house or techno. It's a statement for all music lovers out their to love what they like and like what they love, and don't think in terms of Black and White.

What are your current favourite tracks?

I think tracks that have a both of everything in it, a house feeling with a techy influence and some trance flow. Or tracks like Pan Pan from Koen groeneveld, Alex peace From Inside The Speaker, Wippeneberg with Chakalaka are tracks i really love........ :-)

Where we can catch you in this New Year? Will you be playing somewhere?

Don't know yet witch option will choose, but a good chance i will play in the UK..

What was the best gig in this year for you?

That was probably a gig in a club, those gigs i always love the most, but don't know in witch club it was?!

Which equipment do u use?

To produce i have a pretty long list of hardware, but i use: a PC with Cubase/ a SONY DMX-R-100 mixer, so that's the basis of the studio.

What's the maddest thing you've ever done after a night out?

Not so much Rock n' Roll..... ha ha

Please give few words for your fans on HousePlanet. DJ

Well the good thing about my fans is that they are not so narrow minded as some other DJ fans. I hate that people only believe in one sound or one style or just one dj. There is no Black or white!! There is so much you will miss if you be so narrow minded. Be open minded be free and live your life as you want, not as people expect you to do. I did, and I end up having the time of my life, and the good thing is I feel blessed just because I know I'm not that highly talented guy or just was lucky in what I did, I worked hard and I followed my own dreams and directions, that made me what I am today.

MARCEL WOODS DELVES INTO HIS MUSICAL MADNESS AND DELIVERS UP A STORM…
Marcel Woods returns to the fore in spectacular style with this storming double CD mix compilation. Throwing the rulebook out of the window, Marcel truly indulges his musical psyche, unleashing the beast within and in doing so, coming up with two sets that roar through from start to finish.
CD1 starts off so dark it’s practically the witching hour set to music. From his own track, ‘Life Is Like A Box Of Chocolate’ (Nestle Mix) through to John Dahlback’s ‘It Feels So Good’ and Alex Pearce’s ‘From Inside The Speaker’ (Twocker Remix), Marcel wracks up the tension, a tweak here, a notch there. Then just as you think you’ve got the measure of the mix, Cliff Coenraad’s ‘Modulate’ drops, just to mess with your mind. A big heads up - don’t even think about relaxing for a second with this mix!
Stripped down and electronic is the order of the day as CD2 kicks off. Wippenberg’s ‘Chakalaka’ and Joop’s ‘3008 Mix’, with its growling undertones of bass, suck you straight in to pure peak hour dance floor time. You’re all settled for the ride and in comes Miss Melody’s ‘Ibiza’. Shifting the pace, catching you off-guard, it’s a stunning twist that reminds you why Marcel is so revered by clubbers and DJs alike. Whether it’s lurking in the darker shades of trance or rising up to more euphoric sounds, every single track, every mix is perfectly crafted and beautifully toned.
For Marcel Woods, Musical Madness is pretty much a self-statement through music. Indefinable but every inch fierce, taking you through a spectrum of sound and capturing your senses, this is one album we’re confident will set the charts, and fans new and old alike on fire.
